President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Appointing Authority has appointed and installed the first Chancellor of Apex International University based in Kakiri in Wakiso District, Spyreports has learnt.
Accordingly, the President appointed Hon Wilson Kajwengye as the New Chancellor For Apex International University on a 4 year contract. The new Chancellor also doubles as the Current Member of Parliament for Nyabushozi County in Kiruhura District in Western Uganda. The installation and inauguration presided over by Vice President Hon Jessica Alupo and the colorful function was held at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Nakasero.
At the same function, the University held it’s first ever graduation where a total of 400 students were awarded with Degrees,Diplomas and Certificates in various fields that include Business studies, Education, Information and technology among others. While delivering the President’s speech, Alupo says the President thanked the leadership of Apex International University for meeting Educational needs of Uganda. “When we took over power in 1986, the Country only had one University which was Makerere University but currently the government has a total of 73 Universities including Apex International University and only 11 are government owned,” Says President Museveni adding that the number of University students also increased from 5000 to over 270000. “I want to thank Apex International University for contributing to Uganda’s development by creating jobs of Ugandans, empowering skills and knowledge to the younger generation,” Says the President. He also thanked Parents for the financial support they extended to their Children. “I want to encourage parents to guide your children to select science courses that meet the job market in the private sector,” Says the President. He also informed the graduates that much has been given to them as much as is expected from them. “Avoid neglecting your life through Alcohol and sex related activities. Don’t waste your life,”Sounds the President. Some of the best students who were awarded with Certificates of excellence included Yusifu Noah, Mark Bweita, Ssentamu Habbib ,Muli Isaac,Ogwang Moses among others.
The function was attended by big shots from all corners of the government.
