Land Title Fraud Uncovered!! Businessman Kirenga Fred Faces Anti-Corruption Court, Gets Charged

Must read

This morning, the Anti-Corruption Court in Uganda heard a case involving Kirenga Fred, a businessman based in Naguru, who has been accused of fraudulently obtaining a land title. The case is part of a larger investigation led by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (@AntiGraft_SH) in partnership with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (@ODPPUGANDA) and the Criminal Investigations Directorate (@CID1_UG).

Kirenga Fred was brought before the court to answer charges related to the illegal registration of land already owned by another party. He is said to have played a key role in the fraudulent creation of a Certificate of Title for land located in Gomba District. He will remain in custody until July 8, 2025, when he is expected to return to court.

This case is linked to a wider scandal involving several high-profile individuals, including Kakooza Jasper, the Acting Commissioner of Surveys and Mapping, and Mugenyi Vicent, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Gomba District. In total, 12 people have been charged so far for their roles in the fraud.

The accusations stem from events that occurred on June 15, 2020. According to court documents, Kirenga Fred and his co-accused illegally registered a freehold Certificate of Title for Block 311, Plot 36 and 37 in their names. Shockingly, they did this despite knowing that the land already had a registered title belonging to Madhvani Group Ltd, a well-known business company in Uganda.

This case has drawn national attention due to the involvement of top government officials and the apparent ease with which public land records were manipulated. It raises serious concerns about corruption in Uganda’s land administration systems and the protection of private property.

As the case continues to unfold, the public is watching closely, hoping that justice will be served and those responsible for corrupt land deals will be held accountable.
