A group of criminals who violently attacked and robbed people in broad daylight during the NRM parliamentary primary elections in Nsambya has been arrested, thanks to the swift action of the Kabalagala Police and other security agencies.

The shocking incident happened on 17th July 2025 and quickly went viral after a disturbing video circulated on social media. The footage showed a gang of thugs attacking innocent civilians in the middle of the day, causing fear and outrage among the public. Once the video was reviewed, police at Kabalagala Police Station moved fast to identify and track down the suspects.

Police responded immediately to the scene on the day of the attack and managed to arrest eight suspects on the spot. But that was only the beginning. With the help of CCTV footage and information from interrogations, the police launched an intelligence-led operation on 20th July 2025 to capture more members of the gang.

This second operation led to the arrest of ten more suspects. Those arrested include: Were Phillip, Lubwama Sharif, Wasike Patrick, Ngobi Brian, Mugisha Shafiq, Rashid Sebisaba, Ochwo Emmanuel, Kakooza Abdul Rakim, Ominga Brian, and Katongole Meddy, also known as Baros. This brings the total number of arrested suspects to 18.

According to police spokesperson ASP Owoyesigyire Luke, all the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the robbery and assault. They have been charged with Simple Robbery and will be presented in court. The police emphasized their strong commitment to keeping the public safe and making sure that everyone involved in such crimes is brought to justice.

The police also revealed that operations are still ongoing to track down more suspects who are still on the run. Authorities are asking the public to help by providing any information that could assist in the arrest of these remaining criminals.

The quick action taken by law enforcement shows the importance of community cooperation, use of technology like CCTV, and teamwork among security agencies. This case is a clear reminder that crime will not go unpunished and that the safety of Ugandans remains a top priority.
