Intelligence Operation Leads to Arrest in Wakiso Armed Motorcycle Robbery Case

Police in Wakiso have arrested one suspect in connection with an aggravated robbery that left a local bodaboda rider traumatized. The incident occurred in Sumbwe Village, Sumbwe Parish, Wakiso District, on the night of 13th February 2026, when the victim, Ssesanga Equiam, was returning home.

According to preliminary findings, Ssesanga had picked up two men near Busega, who were disguised as passengers heading toward Sumbwe Village. Upon reaching their destination, the men reportedly attacked him with a panga, cutting through his riding helmet. They then stole his red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UMA 191DV, along with his mobile phone.

After weeks of investigations, Wakiso police, acting on intelligence, arrested a suspect on 9th March 2026 in Kikunyu Village, Kamengo, Mpigi District. The arrested individual is a local bodaboda rider. During the operation, police recovered several items believed to be linked to the robbery, including a mobile phone thought to belong to the victim, a numberless motorcycle, and two other motorcycles with registration numbers UEB 559Q and UEC 678N.

Authorities have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack. Police have assured the public that further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses.

Spokesperson Kawala Racheal of the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities, emphasizing that such crimes will be thoroughly investigated and perpetrators brought to justice.
