Police at Kyengera Police Station in Nsangi Division are investigating a case of aggravated robbery that occurred on the night of March 9, 2026, at around 10:00pm in the area between Kyengera Town Council and Mpigi District.

According to police reports, a 19-year-old boda boda rider who operates at the Kings Sport Betting stage in Kinaawa was hired by two unknown men from Kyengera Trading Centre. The suspects requested the rider to transport them to Kyengera Parents Primary School.

After a short distance, the suspects reportedly asked the rider to continue with the journey towards Mpigi. Along the way, they were joined by another accomplice who was armed with a panga. The situation quickly turned violent when the suspects attacked the rider, grabbed him by the neck and forcefully robbed him.

The attackers made off with the rider’s motorcycle, a red Bajaj Boxer with registration number UDX 457B, valued at about UGX 3,000,000. They also took his Samsung mobile phone valued at UGX 300,000 and UGX 50,000 in cash before fleeing and leaving the victim stranded by the roadside.

The victim immediately raised an alarm which attracted nearby residents. With their help, one suspect identified as Zziwa Moses was arrested and later handed over to police. During interrogation, the suspect reportedly led officers to a parking yard in Wakimese Cell, Kyengera Ward where the stolen motorcycle had been abandoned.

Police confirmed that the motorcycle has since been recovered and one suspect is currently in custody at Kyengera Police Station assisting with investigations. Meanwhile, security agencies have launched a manhunt to track down the other suspects who are still on the run.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The statement was issued by Luke Owoyesigyire, who assured the public that police remain committed to fighting crime and protecting the safety of road users and boda boda riders in the area.
