It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announces the untimely passing of Ambassador SantaLaker Kinyera, a cherished colleague and a stalwart in Uganda’s diplomatic service. Ambassador Kinyera passed away this morning at Mulago Specialized National Referral Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and exemplary leadership.
Ambassador Kinyera’s journey with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs began in 1994 when she joined as a career diplomat. Over the years, her passion for diplomacy and commitment to Uganda’s interests propelled her through the ranks. Her tireless work and exceptional skills did not go unnoticed, and she was entrusted with various significant roles in Uganda’s foreign service. Most recently, she served as Uganda’s Deputy High Commissioner in Kigali, Rwanda, where she continued to represent her country’s interests with grace and determination.
Throughout her career, Ambassador Kinyera embodied the values of diplomacy—patience, negotiation, and collaboration—becoming an inspiration to many of her colleagues. Her contributions to strengthening Uganda’s international relations will not be forgotten. Her work in Kigali, in particular, stands as a testament to her dedication and ability to foster deep, lasting ties between Uganda and Rwanda.
In this difficult time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of working with her. The details of the funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the countless lives she touched through her work and kindness.
Ambassador Kinyera’s departure marks the end of an era for Uganda’s diplomatic community, but her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of diplomats.
