Police in Wakiso District have launched a serious investigation into a daring case of aggravated robbery that took place in Kikaaya Village, Ssumbwe Parish, on the night of Thursday, November 6, 2025. The frightening incident has left business owners in Bulenga counting their losses and residents living in fear as police intensify their search for the criminals behind the attack.
According to the preliminary police report, three unidentified men riding on a motorcycle stormed the area under the cover of darkness. The thugs, one of whom was armed with a gun, targeted several businesses — including a soft drink depot, a mobile money and agent banking outlet, and a retail shop — before fleeing with cash and mobile phones.
Eyewitnesses say the robbers appeared well-organized and moved quickly between the targeted premises. “They came out of nowhere, demanded money, and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to raise an alarm,” said one shop attendant who requested anonymity for safety reasons. “Everyone was terrified. It happened in minutes.”
Police confirmed that the suspects managed to escape with an unspecified amount of money and two mobile phones. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, though several people were left in shock after witnessing the terrifying ordeal. The criminals reportedly sped off on a motorcycle after the robbery, disappearing into the night.
Officers from Bulenga Police Station responded swiftly to the scene after receiving the report. They documented the area, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. CCTV cameras from two of the affected businesses captured the robbers’ movements, and investigators are now reviewing the footage to identify the suspects.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy PRO of Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations are ongoing. “A case of aggravated robbery has been registered, and a team of officers has been dispatched to track down the perpetrators,” he stated. “We are following several leads, and we are confident that the suspects will be apprehended soon.”
Police have appealed to residents of Bulenga and nearby areas to remain calm but vigilant. They urged anyone with useful information about the suspects’ whereabouts or identity to report immediately to the nearest police station. “Community cooperation is key in ensuring these criminals are brought to justice,” ASP Owoyesigyire emphasized.
This latest robbery has reignited concerns about rising cases of night-time crime in Wakiso District. Locals are calling for increased police patrols, better street lighting, and stronger community watch programs to help deter such attacks. Many business owners now say they are afraid to operate late into the night.
Security analysts believe the incident may be part of a wider trend involving motorcycle-riding robbers who target mobile money agents and small shops — often using firearms or machetes to intimidate their victims. Police have previously warned such criminals that the law will catch up with them sooner or later.
As investigations continue, the people of Bulenga hope for quick arrests and tougher action against armed robbers. For now, businesses remain on edge, and the community prays that justice will soon be served to restore peace and safety in their neighborhood.
