Police officers on Thursday visited a piece of land in Busabala, Wakiso District, which is subject of contested ownership between NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi and head of station in South Africa, Ambassador Kintu Nyago.
The officers visited after Nyago petitioned the commandant of Land Protection Unit, Mr Johnson Olal Dale, claiming that Bobi Wine had encroached on his land, which is on the shores of Lake Victoria, and make it part of his One Love Beach.
Ambassador Nyago in his petition said in 2017, when he was representing Uganda in the US, Kyagulanyi took advantage of his absence and grabbed part of the land.
“He demolished my farm with crops and used the section of land as part of his beach,” Nyago said.
But when contacted, Mr Benjamin Katana, Bobi Wine’s lawyer, said Ambassador Nyago and Mr Kyagulanyi, who are neighbours in Busabala, failed to resolve the matter amicably, and the former went to court.
Katana said he will not make any further comments since the matter is before court.
“We continue to wait for the court ruling,” he added.
