Bobi Wine Announces Exit From Uganda, Vows to Continue Fight for Freedom

Must read

Bobi Wine, Uganda’s prominent opposition leader, has announced a temporary exit from the country as he continues his fight for freedom and democracy. He revealed that two months ago, after President Yoweri Museveni declared himself president in what Bobi Wine calls a “usurpation of the people’s will,” the military attempted to invade his home. He narrowly escaped and has been in hiding since then.

During this period, Bobi Wine says the regime has pursued him relentlessly. Homes of his colleagues and fellow leaders were raided, roadblocks and vehicle checks were mounted, and even police officers assigned to his campaign were arrested or dismissed. His family home in the village has been raided and kept under siege. Despite these pressures, ordinary Ugandans provided him shelter and protection, keeping him safe from capture.

Now, Bobi Wine plans to travel abroad to meet with friends and allies around the world. His goal is to gather support for Uganda’s struggle for democracy before returning to the country to continue the movement. He urges Ugandans to remain united and focused, reminding the nation that the fight for freedom is far from over.
