Bobi Wine Music Promoter faces Treason charges
Police have preferred treason charges against Andrew Mukasa of Bajjo Events and a supporter of People Power movement led by MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine for threatening to over throw President Museveni before elections.
Bajjo was abducted by a section of security forces who were dressed in both uniform and civilian attires from Mix Lounge, Centenary Park while addressing a press conference on Saturday.
Fred Enanga the police spokesperson told us that Mukasa Andrew aka Bajjo was arrested by investigators from Special Investigations Division (SID) over a video in which he was recorded threatening to over throw the Government before 2021 elections.
Enanga adds that Bajjo’s arrest is in relation to the comments he made in Luganda a local language that circulated online. After translating it, he warns H.E the president of their plans to oust him before the year 2021. Bajjo also warned the military of similar plans to oust the government and indicates with confidence that they have people backing them up.
The police’s mouthpiece said that police have preferred charges of Treason, inciting violence and misprision of treason against him since the law protects the honor of the president as a democratically elected leader.
In the video that was shared on social media platforms, Bajjo is seen threatening to oust President Museveni government before 2021 and warning the army against standing in their way during the oust.
Enanga added that police is still investigating the case and it will forward the file to Director of public prosecution for legal advice after investigations are done.
