BREAKING!! Deadly Crash in Buikwe Leaves Several Dead, Many Injured, Police Speaks

Makindu Village in Buikwe District was the scene of a terrible road crash this evening, May 5, 2025, that left several people dead and many others injured. The accident happened at around 5:00 PM along the Kisoga–Nyenga Road and involved a Scania bus with the registration number UAV 701C, which belongs to YY Company.

According to police reports, the bus was on its way from Katosi heading toward Jinja when the driver lost control at Makindu Village. The vehicle overturned and caught fire, resulting in a deadly and heartbreaking tragedy. The flames quickly engulfed the bus, making it difficult for many passengers to escape.

Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, rushed to the scene and are currently working to put out the fire. Sadly, several people lost their lives in the fire. Their identities have not yet been confirmed as authorities continue to recover the bodies from the wreckage.

Many passengers who survived the crash but suffered injuries were quickly taken to nearby hospitals, including Kawolo Hospital and St. Francis Lwanga Hospital in Buikwe. Others were taken to smaller health centers in the area for urgent medical care. The exact number of the injured is still being verified, but it is believed that the injuries range from minor to serious.

Police spokesperson SP Kananura Michael from the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety confirmed the incident and assured the public that investigations are ongoing. He said more details will be shared as they become available.

The cause of the crash is not yet clear, but authorities are looking into the possibility of speeding or mechanical failure. The tragic event has caused shock and sadness among residents of Makindu Village and the wider Buikwe District.
