A tragic accident has claimed the life of Kuwembula Maxwell, the LC5 Chairman of Kamuli District. The fatal crash happened on the morning of June 12, 2025, near the Ministry of Water and Environment office in Nakifuma, along the busy Nakifuma-Kayunga road.
According to the police, the accident involved two vehicles. One was a yellow Hacman truck with registration number UBR 835K, which was parked near Nakifuma Trust Medical Center. The other was a white Toyota Hilux Double Cabin, registration number UG 699M, driven by the late Kuwembula Maxwell. He was traveling from Kampala heading back to Kamuli at the time of the crash.
The accident happened when Kuwembula’s vehicle rammed into the parked truck. The impact was so strong that his vehicle was completely damaged, and his body was found trapped in the wreckage. Sadly, he died on the spot. The driver of the parked Hacman truck is still unknown and reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Police officers from Naggalama Police Division arrived quickly and began investigations. They are trying to find out what exactly led to the accident and are also searching for the driver of the parked truck. The police are asking anyone with useful information to come forward and assist in the investigations.
This unfortunate incident has shocked many people, especially in Kamuli District, where Kuwembula served as the district chairman. His sudden death is a big loss not only to his family but also to the community he served. Police continue to look into the matter to bring clarity and justice to the case.
