In a bold step towards bridging the digital divide, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), through the Uganda Communications Universal Service and Access Fund (UCUSAF), has partnered with World Vision Uganda to launch the E-Class Project. This exciting initiative is set to transform learning in Buikwe, Nakasongola, and Mpigi districts by introducing modern digital tools into classrooms.
The E-Class Project aims to strengthen literacy and numeracy among school children by making use of technology. Thirteen schools were carefully selected to benefit from this pilot program. Each of these schools received a package that includes 40 tablets, a laptop, a projector, a charging station, and an internet access point. With these resources, teachers now have an opportunity to blend traditional teaching with digital learning, giving students a more interactive and engaging education experience.
For many pupils in these districts, this is the first time they are interacting with digital devices in their learning journey. The introduction of tablets and internet access means that children can now explore a wider range of educational content, while teachers can make lessons more lively, visual, and impactful. This not only makes learning enjoyable but also helps students build the digital skills they will need in the future.
The project also highlights the importance of partnerships in driving development. By working together, UCC and World Vision Uganda have shown how collaboration can bring real change to communities, especially in rural areas where access to technology is often limited. Parents, teachers, and community leaders are hopeful that the E-Class Project will open new doors of opportunity for children, empowering them with knowledge and skills to compete in the digital age.
The E-Class Project is more than just a technological upgrade; it is a step towards equality in education, ensuring that no child is left behind. As the program grows, it carries the promise of transforming not only classrooms but also entire communities, by shaping a new generation of learners who are confident, creative, and digitally empowered.
