Businessman Charged I Court & Remanded Over Alleged Presidential Forgery

Must read

A businessman, Male Nicholus, appeared in court yesterday, accused of forging a document allegedly signed by Uganda’s President. The case was brought before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court, where Male was charged with forgery and uttering false documents. The court has remanded him until November 17, 2025, pending further hearing.

According to court documents, the alleged forgery took place on September 18, 2025. Male is accused of creating a false letter dated August 15, 2025, addressed to the Minister of Works and Transport, and falsely claiming it was signed by the President. The letter reportedly instructed the Minister to renew the contract of Nations Oil Distributors Limited to continue managing MV Kalangala for another 15 years—a claim that was entirely false.

The forged document was allegedly delivered to several key offices, including the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and the offices of Nations Oil Distributors Limited in Ndeba. Authorities say Male had previously approached the Director of Nations Oil Distributors Limited, claiming that he worked with the Office of the Prime Minister and had connections with several senior government officials. He allegedly promised to help secure the renewal of the MV Kalangala management contract.

The case has raised serious questions about the lengths some individuals may go to manipulate government processes for personal gain. Legal experts say that if convicted, Male could face severe penalties under Uganda’s laws against forgery and fraud. For now, the businessman remains in custody as the court prepares for the next hearing.
