The Territorial Police has issued a press statement following a tragic murder by stabbing in Luwero District. The incident happened in the early hours of 5th March 2026 at around 1:00am in Bajjo Lumansi Village, Bajjo Parish, Nyimbwa Sub-County.

According to police reports, 25-year-old businesswoman Sarah Kabahwezi, commonly known as Shilat, was brutally stabbed to death. Her lifeless body was discovered by the roadside, partially covered with a towel. She had sustained multiple stab wounds across her body, showing signs of a violent attack.

Police revealed that the deceased and the suspect, 26-year-old casual worker Gilbert Tumwesigye, also known as Rast Niga Bwayi, were both residents of the same village. The two had been in a romantic relationship and were living under the same roof, although they rented separate rooms. The deceased reportedly used her room as both a bar and her sleeping area.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect allegedly found the deceased with another man, said to be a boda boda rider. It is believed that he confronted her shortly after witnessing them together. The confrontation reportedly turned violent a short distance away, leading to the fatal stabbing.

Police officers responded quickly to the scene. They documented the area thoroughly and carried out an examination of the body. A murder case was immediately registered, and statements were recorded from several witnesses to help in investigations.

The suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities have confirmed that the body of the deceased was taken to Luwero General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Police say investigations are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including previous relationship misunderstandings and reported family interventions. More inquiries are underway to ensure justice is served.

The press statement was issued by ASP S. Twiineamazima, PRO Savannah Region, who assured the public that police are committed to thoroughly handling the matter.
