5 Senior Cops Under Probe for Stealing Exhibits, Illegal Seizing of Cars

Senior police officers attached to crime intelligence directorate are under investigation by Professional standard Unit (PSU) and director CID Grace Akullo for illegal seizure of cars and failing to account for police exhibits.
According to information seen by this investigative website, police officers attached to crime intelligence department last year launched an operation of recovering stolen cars but instead they started extorting money from people and impound their cars illegally.
The suspects are D/AIP Nicholas Onyango, ASP Arinaitwe, PPC Julius Musinguzi and ASP Kabinga.
Some of the victims who wrote to director CID and commandant PSU are Kaziba Dauda a residence of Mbale and Bumali Mwima who say their cars were impounded by Crime Intelligence officers and they detained them for over 3 weeks.

According to victims, their cars UAH 615Q, UAQ 548Q,UAF 410S and others were impounded by these officers.
The owners of these cars brought all necessary documents showing that these cars are not stolen but they
were intimidated and detained beyond 48 hours.
“Our cars were vandalized and we were extorted by our money by these officers who arrested us”. Said Dauda
Kaziba.
When we contacted the spokesperson of CI ASP Vicente Sekate confirmed that the investigations were underway.

One Gunned Down in Kyengera

Police at Kyengera Wakiso district is hunting for a security guard for gunning down one person after provocation.
The incident happened last night at 9pm at Kyengera Nsangi Division where a one Okwir Isaac A Private Security Guard With Redteck Company Guarding  a Pepsi Depot At Kyengera , shot and killed one Kinene Abubakar a Mechanic over a light quarrel/provocation .
The suspect after the incident took off and is being hunted by security for prosecution.

Two Students Executed inside Rented Muzigo in Rubaga

Old Kampala police is investigating circumstances that led to the death of two female students of the East African University.
Bodies of Huda Njuba and another only known as Safinah were found rotting in their rented room in Kakeeka village, Rubaga division. The deceased are aged between 20 and 24.
Police was informed of the death of the two young women by neighbors following a foul stench that was emanating from the deceased’s room, which had remained closed for more than three days.
Police says that there are no signs of struggle or injuries on the two bodies although one of them was found with a knife in her hand.
The scene-of-crime officers have since swept the scene for any possible evidence. Among the recovered exhibits are used condoms, the knife and mobile phones found on the bodies of the two.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, the detectives have since arrested the landlord to help in investigations.
Njuba had been reported missing from her home in Entebbe last week. The bodies have been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem to help establish the exact cause and time of death.

Police in Wakiso district is hunting for the unknown assailants who handcuffed a man and cut off his head.
A body of a man estimated to be in his 30s and 40s was found dumped in a bush, along Sentema road, between Nakabugo and Bukasa trading Centers.
The body was naked, without a head and tied on handcuffs.
Police says the deceased was believed to have been brought from far and slaughtered in the area.
Police adds that detectives are in the area for any clues and with a possibility of recovering the missing head.
The body has been taken to City mortuary pending post mortem.

Crime Intelligence Chief George Chombe under Probe for Pocketing Shs500m

Security is investigating police director Crime Intelligence George Chombe for embezzling police funds.
Senior commissioner of police George Chombe is accused of embezzling over 500m which was meant to benefit the environmental intelligence unit of police.
“SCP Chombe used this money and now he can’t account for it” As source says.
It is reported that the entire unit has only 5 personnel with two cars only.
“This money was provided by Parliament to safe guard forests and natural resources country wide”. Source adds.
Source added that Chombe picked two cars from the department and gave them to his wife. A Toyota land cruiser and a Mark 2 are being used by his family.
He was also recently accused of disarming of good performing operatives and creating factions inside Crime Intelligence directorate which dangerous for national security.

Security Arrests 3 Suspects in Dr Ibrahim Gwaluka Assassination

3 suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Uganda government doctor Dr. Ibrahim Gwaluka.
Police has since recovered the killer gun recovered from one of the suspects’ home.
The suspects are now kept at CPS Iganga as investigations are going on.
Dr Ibrahim Gwaluka,who has been working at Kigandalo Health Centre IV was shot dead last Friday by gunmen.
According to police, Dr Gwaluka, 31, was shot in his car in his compound in Bulubandi Village, Nakigo Sub-county.
James Mubi, the Busoga East Regional police spokesperson, said the medical doctor at the time of the incident, which occurred around 8 pm, was with his wife who survived.
“The doctor was killed on spot but his wife whom he was within the car was just beaten up by the thugs before running away,” he said, adding that the motive of the killing is not clear as no property was taken.
According to family members who witnessed the incident, the assailants were already in the compound by the time the doctor’s car entered through the gate.
“It is said that as the car parked, the gunmen approached from in front and opened fire, targeting the doctor,” said one of the family members who refused to be named.
He added: “The woman bent down as gunshots sounded and as the assailants concentrated on the Doctor. She managed to escape and hid in the latrine”.
Swaibu Mpoya, the Bulubandi village chairman, said that the perpetrators were after the doctor’s life as they didn’t take any money or property.

Ochola Bans Torture While Interrogating Suspects

The inspector general of police Okoth Martin Ochola has warned police officers against torturing suspects as way of extracting information from.
IGP Ochola made the warning while meeting the District police commanders and officers in charge of Wamala region, Ochola says stopping this practice will change the image of the police.
Meanwhile the police spokesperson Emilian Kayima insists that all those found of torturing suspects will be charged individually and persecuted.
Kayima says the force in now embarked on improving the welfare of its officers and reminding them promotion to higher ranks will depend on individual performance.

19 People Confirmed Dead in Kapchorwa Accident

At least 19 people have been confirmed dead in an accident at Towei in Sipi Town Council, Kapchorwa district.
The dead were staff of National League of USA, an NGO based in Kiryandongo and Masindi who Were traveling in a bus registration number UG 2833E belonging Kiryandongo Technical Institute .
Emilian Kayima says the bus overturned several times, killing 19 on the spot.
Sipi Regional Police spokesperson, Rogers Taitika says the victims were returning from a three-day visit at Sipi.
Taitika adds that 6 survivors have been rushed to Mbale and Kapchorwa hospitals for treatment while bodies were yet to be identified have been taken to the mortuary.
He says the cause of accident is yet to be established.

Traffic to Auction Over 100 Impounded Motorcycles

Police through its department of traffic and road safety have finalized its plans to auction over 100 unclaimed motorcycles which were impounded because of various offenses.
The auction is taking place at central police station cps Kampala after traffic department failed to trace for the owners of the said motorcycles.
Our sources at CPS told us the auction will take place this Thursday in the CPS yard adding that the exercise will only last six hours .
“We have tried to look for the owners of these motorcycles for the last six months but they have refused to come because they that they don’t have all the requirements to claim them.
““Instead they have opted to abandon the motorcycles at police and we can’t keep them more than that time,” said one of the traffic officers.
It should be noted that traffic department always auction both motorcycles and motor vehicles every after six months from the date they are impounded.
