Detectives investigating circumstances under which a university student murdered a catholic priest have revealed how a priest had sodomized a boy for ten years.
Investigators based on a medical report which was gotten from Government Analytical Laboratory GAL where they subjected a university student after narrating his story.
Robert Asimwe was arrested last week after finding him with a body of catholic priest Emmanuel Mugarura wrapped in a polythene bag.
“We decided to subject the suspect for medical examination to establish and examine his bums after narrating to us how he has been used for close to ten years,” one of the investigators who asked not to be mentioned told us.
Results from GAL revealed that, it’s true the boy has been sodomized several times and his blood was full of drugs that priest Mugarura used to give him before harassing the boy, sources added.
“Police is also investigating what had brought the father and why he packed his vehicle in Rubaga and decided to find the university student in his room”, Says Patrick Onyango.
Onyango added that, the matter is still under investigation but tomorrow the file will be sent to DPP for further guidance. Special investigation Division (SID) took over the investigation to ascertain the truth behind the murder of the priest.
Mugarura, 46, was a superior general of the brothers of St Charles Lwanga locally known as Bakarooli Brothers of Kyotera District but On, July 3, 2019 his body was found wrapped into a polthen bag by Robert Asimwe.
Police arrested Asimwe after getting information that he had hired a truck to dispose Mugarura’s lifeless body which he had covered in a tarpaulin. Upon being arrested, Asimwe was taken to special Investigations Department in Kireka, Kampala for intense interrogation where he revealed to interrogators that Mugarura sexually abused him for many years.
“Right from secondary and now at university, I was being subjected to sexual abuses because he paid my school fees. A time came and the situation was unbearable. He refused to let me go and we fought. That is how he died,” Asimwe confessed to detectives.
