Must read

In a proud and uplifting development, 190 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) serving under the United Nations Guard Unit Eleven (UNGU-XI) have been promoted. These dedicated officers are currently on duty in Somalia under the UN, playing a vital role in ensuring security and peace in the region.

The promotions are a sign of recognition from the UPDF leadership for the soldiers’ hard work, discipline, and commitment to duty. These men and women have continued to represent Uganda with honour, showing professionalism and loyalty in a challenging environment far from home.

The Commander of the UPDF Contingent under the UNGU-XI praised the newly promoted officers, urging them to remain focused and to continue upholding the values of the UPDF. He reminded them that a promotion comes with greater responsibility and the expectation to lead by example.

The officers, who serve in different roles including security, logistics, medical support, and administration, expressed their joy and appreciation for the recognition. They promised to use their new ranks to serve even better and contribute more to the mission’s success.

This promotion exercise is part of the UPDF’s regular efforts to motivate its soldiers, reward performance, and build a strong, professional army. It also reflects Uganda’s commitment to international peacekeeping operations and to the welfare of its troops abroad.
