This morning, the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo, together with senior officers at the CID headquarters in Kibuli, held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA). The focus of the engagement was to strengthen collaboration in the fight against financial crimes and other economic offenses that continue to challenge Uganda’s economy.

During the meeting, both parties underscored the urgent need to deepen their partnership—especially in areas such as crime detection, joint investigations, and the timely exchange of critical information. With the rise of digital banking and sophisticated technologies, financial crimes are becoming increasingly complex, requiring closer coordination between law enforcement and financial institutions.
AIGP Magambo expressed his appreciation for the continued support from the banking sector. He emphasized the importance of regular engagement platforms between detectives and banking professionals, noting that effective collaboration would help both institutions stay ahead of criminals who exploit systemic loopholes.
The Uganda Bankers Association, on their part, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the CID in various areas, including building stronger case files, offering expert advice, and training police officers on the ever-evolving tactics used by fraudsters within the banking environment.
Both teams agreed that ongoing capacity building, open communication, and shared intelligence are vital to successfully combating economic and financial crimes. The meeting ended on a positive note, with a joint promise to maintain momentum and organize more collaborative engagements in the near future.
