A high-level meeting aimed at strengthening the fight against corruption took place this morning when the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate, Tom Magambo, together with his team, paid a courtesy visit to the head of the Inspectorate of Government. The team met with the Inspector General of Government, Aisha Naluzze Batala, in a discussion focused on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
During the meeting, the leaders reviewed the progress made so far in their ongoing collaboration in the fight against corruption. Both offices play a very important role in investigating and handling corruption-related cases in the country. Because of this, closer cooperation between them is seen as a key step in ensuring that cases are handled faster and more effectively.

According to information from the meeting, the discussions focused on improving coordination between investigators and anti-corruption officials. The teams shared ideas on how they can better work together, exchange information, and support each other during investigations. Such cooperation helps avoid delays and ensures that corruption cases are followed through properly.
The leaders also discussed several other issues of mutual interest that could strengthen their joint efforts. These included strategies for improving investigations, enhancing transparency, and ensuring that those involved in corrupt practices are held accountable under the law. The two institutions agreed that teamwork is essential if the country is to make real progress in reducing corruption.

The courtesy visit was also seen as an opportunity to build stronger institutional relationships. By regularly meeting and reviewing their work, both offices hope to create a more united front against corruption, which remains one of the biggest challenges affecting public service and development.
Observers say meetings like this send a strong message that Uganda’s key institutions are committed to working together in order to protect public resources and promote accountability. With continued collaboration between the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Inspectorate of Government, many believe the country’s fight against corruption can become more effective and impactful.
