The Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo, delivered an inspiring “lecture of opportunity” to a group of 1,100 students at Mbarara High School on Tuesday morning. The event brought together learners from different classes who were eager to hear from one of the country’s top security leaders.

The seminar was organised by the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps under State House. This programme aims to promote national values, discipline, and responsibility among young people. It focuses on shaping students into active citizens who understand their role in Uganda’s development.

During his lecture, AIGP Magambo spoke about the importance of ideology, patriotism, and mindset change. He told the students that these values are essential for building a strong and prosperous nation. According to him, young people must be guided to think positively and act with purpose if Uganda is to reach its full potential.

He also highlighted the power of discipline and integrity in shaping a successful life. Magambo urged the youth to stay focused on their education and avoid behaviours that could destroy their future. He reminded them that today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders, and the decisions they make now will shape the country for years to come.

The seminar encouraged students to think deeply about their responsibilities as citizens. Speakers emphasised that patriotism is not just about loving one’s country, but also about contributing to its progress. This includes respecting laws, working hard, and supporting national development efforts.

Students were also encouraged to be innovative and open-minded. The speakers explained that mindset change is necessary in a rapidly evolving world where technology, entrepreneurship, and global competition are shaping the future. Young people must learn to adapt, create, and solve problems.

AIGP Magambo urged the youth to use their talents and energy to build a peaceful and united Uganda. He explained that social and economic development can only be achieved when citizens work together and avoid divisions based on politics, tribe, or religion.

Teachers at Mbarara High School welcomed the seminar, saying it provided students with practical knowledge beyond classroom lessons. They noted that such lectures help motivate learners and prepare them to take on leadership roles in their communities.

Several students who attended the event expressed excitement and appreciation for the opportunity to interact with a top national figure. They said the lecture encouraged them to set higher goals and think seriously about their role in shaping Uganda’s future.

The National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps promised to continue organising more seminars across the country. Their aim is to reach thousands of young people and create a generation that is informed, patriotic, and ready to contribute to Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
