Police officers in Kyotera district successfully stopped a major robbery attempt on Monday when five armed men attacked the manager of Mazima Bugaga Coffee Factory. The robbers, who were armed with guns, stole 50 million Ugandan shillings and tried to escape.

According to reports, the officers acted quickly after receiving information about the robbery. They followed the suspects, who were heading toward Masaka. The chase ended at Kizigo Village, where police intercepted the group. During the confrontation, one of the robbers, identified as Ssenyuumu Lawrence, was shot and killed when he attempted to fight back. The other four suspects managed to escape and are currently on the run.

In the process, the police recovered two guns believed to have been used in the robbery, a motorcycle, and other important evidence connected to the case. These items will help with further investigations and could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.

Police say the hunt for the escaped robbers is ongoing. The public has been urged to remain calm and report any suspicious individuals who may be hiding in nearby areas. The Uganda Police has also thanked the officers involved for their swift action and bravery in responding to the dangerous situation.
