COVID-19: Uganda Registers 16 New Cases, Total Shoots to 927

The ministry of health Uganda has confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases from 5,133 samples tested on 03rd July 2020.

The new cases include 11 truck drivers got from 2,993 samples tested at points of entry while the other 5 cases were got from 2,140 samples from alerts and contacts.

Among the 11 cases of truck drivers, 9 arrived via Malaba, 1 via Kerwa in Yumbe District and 1 via Elegu well as the 5 cases from contacts include 4 from Amuru and 1 from Namisindwa.

According to the ministry, 42 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 at border points of entry were not permitted entry into the country.

To date, Uganda registers a total of 927 confirmed COVID19 cases and 868 recoveries.

The ministry also notes that there are 205 active cases on admission including 173  Ugandans, 25 foreigners and 7 refugees.
