Entebbe Airport Corruption  Saga Depends As M7 Orders Sacking of 152 Staffs

Must read

Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport is facing a major storm after shocking reports of corruption surfaced within the Civil Aviation Authority (@UgandaCAA). President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reportedly ordered the dismissal of 152 staff members following serious allegations of misconduct and mismanagement at the country’s main airport.

Investigations are revealing troubling details about how deals were made — or rather, how fair competition was blocked. One of the biggest issues is how certain companies were unfairly given exclusive rights to operate in key airport sections, such as the passenger lounge and duty-free areas. Shockingly, only one bidder was allowed to win these contracts — the same company that already held the concession before. Other interested companies were reportedly thrown out of the bidding process on so-called “technicalities,” raising questions about fairness and transparency.

One of the most disappointing parts of the story involves Café Javas, a popular Ugandan restaurant chain known for its quality service. Reports say the proprietors of Café Javas expressed interest in setting up in the new terminal, a move that could have brought comfort and familiarity to many travelers. However, they were mysteriously denied the chance, and no clear reasons were given. This isn’t an isolated case — several other companies that proposed to build modern eateries and classy lounges were also shut out.

Now, travelers at Entebbe are left with uninspiring, outdated, and unattractive airport spaces. Instead of a world-class terminal filled with vibrant businesses and quality services, passengers are stuck with dreary, substandard facilities — a result of greed and favoritism behind the scenes.

The President’s investigation team is reportedly continuing its work to uncover all the details behind the corruption scandal. There are expectations that more people will be held accountable as deeper rot is exposed within the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.

@PublicSquareEA promises to dig deeper and share more details as the story unfolds. What’s clear so far is that mismanagement at the top has cost Uganda both its image and many valuable business opportunities. The people — and travelers — deserve better.
