On the morning of 16th December 2025, a tragic road accident occurred in Nakasongola District, leaving two people dead and four others seriously injured. The accident took place at approximately 03:30 AM along Wabigalo Road, a busy route in the Savannah Region, when a silver Toyota Hilux, registered under Nakasongola District Local Government, lost control and crashed.
The vehicle, which was traveling from Nakasongola towards Wabigalo Trading Centre at high speed, failed to negotiate a sharp corner. As a result, the driver lost control, and the vehicle veered off the road. The truck then struck a nearby building fence before overturning. The force of the crash was devastating, claiming the lives of two people and leaving several others in critical condition.
The deceased have been identified as Mwebaza Ivan, a 32-year-old male who was employed as a driver for the district, and Stella, a 30-year-old female. Their sudden deaths have left the community in shock. The four other victims, all of whom were injured, have been identified as Orech Rogers (31), Mugabi Joshua (31), Daphin (24), and Mukanambala Faridah (34). They were rushed to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for immediate medical treatment.
The local police responded quickly to the scene of the accident. They conducted a thorough investigation, which included taking a sketch plan of the accident site. The bodies of the deceased were transported to the Nakasongola Health Centre IV mortuary, where postmortem examinations will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the injured victims are receiving the medical attention they need in the hospital.
The police also inspected the vehicle, which was towed to the Nakasongola Police Station yard for further examination.
