This morning, the Executive Director of the Financial Intelligence Authority of Uganda (FIAU), Mr. Samuel Were Wandera, paid a courtesy visit to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), AIGP Tom Magambo, at the CID Headquarters. The meeting was held to strengthen the close working relationship between the two institutions, especially in the fight against financial crimes.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to improve coordination and information sharing between the FIAU and CID. They emphasized the importance of working together to detect, investigate, and prevent crimes such as money laundering, fraud, and terrorism financing — offenses that threaten the stability of the country’s financial system.
Mr. Wandera noted that collaboration between intelligence and investigative agencies is key to stopping criminals who exploit financial systems to hide illegal money. He expressed FIAU’s commitment to supporting CID with timely intelligence, training, and technical assistance to ensure that financial investigations are more effective.
On his part, AIGP Magambo appreciated the FIAU’s continued support and reaffirmed CID’s readiness to work hand in hand with the authority. He said that by joining forces, both institutions can better disrupt organized financial crimes and protect Uganda’s economy from illicit activities.
The courtesy visit marked another important step in building strong partnerships among government agencies responsible for upholding integrity and accountability. Both leaders agreed to continue holding regular engagements to enhance cooperation and ensure that Uganda remains a tough ground for financial criminals.
