Fly Uganda Launches Direct Flights to Bwindi

Fly Uganda one of the air transport operators in Uganda has today launched direct flights from Kampala to Kihihi air strip in Kanungu.
The reduced-fair scheduled flights to Kihihi Airstrip are to link tourists to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas.
The weekly flights will cost $236 one way per seat for Kajjansi-Kihihi.
Isabella Tustanovska the head of marketing Fly Uganda a subsidiary of Kampala Executive Aviation noted that the scheduled flights to Bwindi come high on the heels of rising tourism numbers across Ugandan destinations.
“The move comes with the goal of improving Uganda tourism experience starting with gorilla tracking .With heightened gorilla tracking it is crucial to make transport more efficient and convenient for global travelers” Said Tustanovska.
Uganda tourism board processes 1000 permits for Gorilla tracking at a cost of $600 half price compared to Rwanda’s $1500.
Gloria Tumwesigye, the CEO of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), a leading Tourism association in Uganda during the launch congratulated Fly Uganda on their launch of scheduled flights to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Tumwesigye noted that this will be a very important milestone in the aviation industry in Uganda.
Renowned tourism investor Amos Wekesa of Great Lakes Safaris noted that Uganda tourism needs more planes adding that tourism in Uganda is now growing 25% every year.
Meanwhile, new flight routes planned for 2019 include Fort Portal, Kasese, 3 airstrips in Murchison, Mweya in Queen Elizabeth and Kidepo national park.
Tustanovska noted that Kidepo valley national park is an under visited park yet it’s been highly ranked as one of the best National Parks in Africa.
