Police have intensified operations in different parts of Kampala, leading to several arrests connected to serious crimes, including grievous assault and drug abuse. The coordinated efforts, carried out by officers from Nateete and surrounding areas, highlight the continued commitment to protecting lives and maintaining law and order.

In one of the major cases, Police in Nateete are holding three suspects accused of causing grievous harm to a 63-year-old retired civil servant, Kibirige Polly Sekilanda. The incident happened on 15th January 2026 as the victim was returning home from a polling station at Kitebi Primary School in Rubaga Division. According to reports, he was attacked by a group of people who struck him at the back of the head with a paver stone. He was later found lying in a pool of blood and was quickly rushed to Kitebe Family Clinic and Medical Centre for first aid before being referred to Mulago Hospital for further treatment.

On 18th February 2026, Police arrested three suspects in connection with the attack. They were identified as Seviri Furik, Kasule Henry, a 66-year-old and Chairman LC1 of Kitebe Cell in Mutundwe Ward, and Kyemwa Andrew Kitege, aged 50, a resident of Kitebi. The case files have since been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice as investigations continue.

On the same day, at around 2:00 pm, Police at Nateete responded swiftly to information about a group of boys reportedly smoking opium on top of a building in Kigwanya Zone, Busega. A task team was immediately dispatched to the scene. Four suspects were arrested during the operation. They were identified as Kasozi Shafik, Nasasira Godwin, Talemwa Mike, and Nabasa Wilson. During the arrest, officers recovered a knife and several sticks of opium. The suspects have since been charged accordingly.

Later that evening, at about 9:00 pm, another operation was carried out in Bweyogerere Central Zone and Wellspring Zone. The operation led to the arrest of 18 suspects as part of broader efforts to fight crime and improve public safety in the area.

These operations show that Police are actively working to respond to criminal activities and community concerns. Authorities have assured the public that similar operations will continue as part of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and security for all residents.

Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, SP Kawala Racheal, reaffirmed the Police commitment to maintaining law and order and urged members of the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by sharing timely information.
