A tragic accident on the evening of Sunday, June 8, 2025, has left five people dead and six others injured in Nakasongola District. The fatal crash occurred at around 8:30 PM in Kyalweza Village, Wabinyonyi Sub-county, along the busy Kampala-Gulu highway.

Police responded immediately after being notified. The scene of the accident was examined, and a case of fatal accident was registered. Statements have been recorded from eyewitnesses as part of the ongoing investigation. Both vehicles involved in the crash were towed to Katuugo Park Yard, pending inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV).

ASP Twiineamazima confirmed that inquiries are still ongoing to determine the full cause of the accident and to identify the drivers involved.

This latest tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of speeding and reckless driving, especially on major highways. The authorities are urging all drivers to observe road safety rules and drive responsibly to avoid such heartbreaking incidents.
