Gen. Damulira Launches Ghetto Structure Offices in Hoima, Promises Support and New Opportunities

Must read

Hoima City today witnessed a major development as the Director of Crime Intelligence, AIGP Major General Christopher Damulira, officially launched and opened the offices of the Ghetto Structure along with 26 Ghetto SACCOs. The event attracted ghetto leaders, youth representatives, and local residents, marking a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to empower marginalized communities.

While addressing the ghetto leaders and youths in Hoima, Gen. Damulira highlighted the primary goals of the initiative, noting that the program is designed to transform ghetto communities both socially and economically. At the core of the project, he explained, is the desire to fight crime, uplift youth financially, instill patriotism, and discover hidden talent among ghetto youth.

Gen. Damulira emphasized that crime remains one of the biggest challenges in most ghetto areas, often driven by limited opportunities and economic hardship. He stated that through organized structures, SACCOs, and proper mobilization, the youth would be able to redirect their energy into productive work, reducing crime rates and fostering community stability.

The introduction of the 26 SACCOs is expected to play a major role in economic empowerment. The SACCOs will give ghetto youths organized access to financial support and create avenues for income-generating projects. Gen. Damulira assured the leaders that President Museveni is committed to funding developmental initiatives in ghettos, just as he has done in other regions across the country.

Beyond economic empowerment, the program aims to provide ideological guidance, helping young people understand the importance of unity, discipline, and patriotism. He noted that this mindset shift is essential for transforming communities and enabling youth to contribute positively to national development.

Gen. Damulira also encouraged talent identification and development, stressing that ghettos are full of potential—from sports to music to craftsmanship—that often goes unnoticed. He promised that the government would support efforts to nurture this talent and help youths turn their skills into meaningful careers.

Addressing the issue of national stability, Gen. Damulira urged the people of Hoima to maintain peace, especially with the election period approaching. He encouraged them to exercise their right to vote responsibly and avoid actions that could lead to violence or conflict. Peaceful participation in elections, he said, is crucial for ensuring that the development gains made in the region continue uninterrupted.

By the end of the event, the mood among the ghetto leaders and youth was upbeat. Many expressed hope that the new offices and SACCOs would mark the beginning of meaningful change in their daily lives. With financial opportunities, security support, and talent development all on the agenda, the Hoima ghetto community is looking forward to a future of greater empowerment and stability.

As the new structures take shape, all eyes will be on Hoima to see how the initiative unfolds and how it impacts crime reduction, youth development, and economic improvement in the months ahead.
