In the early hours of August 1, 2025, a robbery attempt in Ndejje Division, Wakiso District was stopped by police just in time. At around 2:20 a.m., a group of ten men armed with pangas (machetes) tried to rob a bar in Bongole Village, located in Ndejje Parish, Makindye Ssabagabo Municipality.
Residents acted quickly and raised the alarm, calling the police for help. Officers from Ndejje Police Station responded without delay and arrived at the scene where they found the suspects in action.
In the operation that followed, police managed to arrest one of the robbers, identified as Mpiima Muhamed.However, the situation became more dangerous when another suspect, known only as Gravity, tried to attack a police officer. In self-defense, the officer shot him.
Gravity was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary for further procedures.Police recovered a sharp panga at the scene, which has been kept as evidence. Investigations are still ongoing to find the remaining suspects and understand more about the gang and their intentions.
This incident highlights the importance of community alertness and fast police response. Thanks to the quick action from both residents and law enforcement, a serious crime was prevented, and lives may have been saved. Authorities are encouraging the public to continue working hand-in-hand with the police to keep their neighborhoods safe.
