Police is investigating circumstances under which one of its officers was violently attacked by unknown assailants before taking away his gun. The attacked officer has been identified as Sgt Ngobi Stephen attached to CT Technical and working at Stone Ridge Primary School in Nsasa.

The incident happened in the early hours of 25th February 2026 and was later reported at Kasangati Police Station under SD Reference 56/25/02/2026. The report was made by Agabarugaba Deus, a 43-year-old police officer also attached to CT Technical and in charge at Stone Ridge Primary School. He is a resident of Nalya Estate in Kira Division, Wakiso District.

According to police findings, Sgt Ngobi Stephen, a resident of Bulamu Zone in Kasangati Town Council, had left his home at about 5:00 a.m. heading for work. He reportedly stopped along the busy Kasangati–Kira road while waiting for a boda boda to transport him to his duty station. At the time of the attack, he was dressed in civilian attire.

It is alleged that three unknown assailants approached him from behind and grabbed him tightly by the neck before assaulting him. During the violent attack, the suspects robbed him of a police pistol number UG POL 006764-26610 loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition. They also took two mobile phones, a CT Technical uniform shirt, a pair of handcuffs, and a bag.

Following the report, a team of detectives led by the District Police Commander (DPC) Kasangati visited the crime scene to gather evidence. Statements from the complainant and the victim were recorded to support investigations. Sgt Ngobi was rushed to Kasangati Health Centre IV where he is currently receiving treatment.

Police have described the case as aggravated robbery and have launched a manhunt for the three suspects. Efforts to recover the stolen firearm and other exhibits are ongoing. Authorities have called upon members of the public to remain alert and share any information that may help in identifying and arresting the culprits.

Investigations are still underway as police work tirelessly to bring the attackers to justice and ensure the safety of the community.
