The Joint security forces in Kira have arrested suspects involved in a series of robberies in the municipality as well as the December shooting of Mukono Ntawo OC, Bagenda Emmanuel. The late Bagenda Emmanuel was tragically shot dead during a night patrol last year when he confronted the robbers. The assailants overpowered him, stole his firearm, and fled, leaving the officer dead.
Reliable sources reveal that three suspects have now been caught, and three guns linked to the crimes have been recovered. The arrested individuals are Atuhaire Robinson, a UPDF deserter; Okello Daniel, a security guard for Fortbet; and Mukasa Joel. According to insiders, these suspects were intercepted while attempting another robbery in Kirinya Kiti, Bweyogerere, Kira municipality on Saturday, 24th January.
The suspects have reportedly confessed to killing Bagenda Emmanuel and committing multiple robberies in the area. Security sources also indicate that four other suspects—Tony, Dan, Edrine, and Arafat—remain at large. Authorities are continuing investigations to apprehend the remaining criminals and ensure they face justice for their crimes.
The swift action by the joint security forces underscores their commitment to cracking down on crime and restoring safety in Kira and its surrounding areas. Residents have expressed relief that dangerous criminals responsible for violent attacks are being brought to justice, while security agencies warn that vigilance and community cooperation remain key in the fight against crime.
