A serious land rift has erupted between Deputy Attorney General Mwesigwa Rukutana who doubles as the member of parliament of Rushenyi County in Ntungamo district and a city tycoon Godfrey Kirumira. The land under dispute is located in Konge zone, Makindye division, Kampala District
According to information obtained by spyreports, city tycoon Kirumira wants to block the road heading to his residence without Hon.Rukutana and other neighbors’ consent.
We have also established that when Rukutana was briefed about Kirumira’s intentions, he immediately called Director In charge of Criminal Investigations (CID) AIGP Grace Akullo and informed her about the situation.
“Afande Akullo city tycoon called Godfrey Kirumira is intending to block the road connecting to our homes by building a huge gate without consulting us so we need your intervention,” a source quoted Hon Rukutana crying for help from Akullo.
“I have interest in that land issue because Mr. Kirumira wants to take it without my consent and other neighbors’ knowledge,” said Rukutana adding that it connects other people to their homes.
Insiders in CID added that tough Akullo immediately ordered lands boss SSP Mutungi and SSP Susan Kasingye to take on the matter but to their surprise when they summoned Kirumira, he declined to show up to record his statement.
When Akullo learnt Kirumira’s decline to show up before young officers for his statement, she issued fresh summons and ordered for his arrest should he fail to honor them
“This Man is just joking if he fails to show up by Friday, he should be arrested and file sanctioned,” said Akullo. However were later informed that Kirumira showed up and was grilled for over five hours.
“Kirumira finally came and faced the Director CID on Thursday and was grilled for over five hours,” said a source from CID. The source adds that Grace Akullo has ordered for investigations into the matter and tasked the team to come up with a comprehensive report in ten days.
Our efforts to get Kirumira for his side of the story were futile but when we interviewed his trusted son Gideon Kirumira he confirmed a land rift between his father and Minister Rukutana.
“It is true my Dad had an issue with Rukutana over the road. They both conflicted where the road should pass and Hon Rukutana reported the matter to CID and my dad was summoned,” he said.
He added he went to CID where both parties met and resolved the matter.
“It was just a small issue of road and was solved. It was not that my dad wanted to steal land from Rukutana,” he added.
