IGAD Leaders Call for Immediate Cessation of Hostilities in Sudan.
In a joint statement, President Yoweri Museveni and the Heads of State of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have expressed their deep concerns regarding the ongoing situation in Sudan.
The leaders called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the two sides and condemned the use of force which undermines the progress made through peaceful dialogue over the last several months.
President Museveni emphasized that it is no longer acceptable to paper over mistakes caused by unprincipled politics year after year. He stressed the need for an unconditional and immediate cessation of hostilities to put an end to the tragedy and mockery of Africa.
“I condemn the misuse of force in a situation that undermines all progress made through dialogue over the last many months. We cannot keep papering over mistakes of unprincipled politics year after year”, Museveni said.
