Inspector General of police Martin Okoth Ochola has issued an order stopping Deputy Resident district commissioner (RDC) for Kira Municipality Joseph Ssekasamba and city surveyor Hezekiah Mukiibi from evicting over 10-bibanja owners in Kito Kira Municipality.
According to the letter, which spyreports obtained shows that, Ochola blocked any activity on this land because there is a court injunction stopping RDC Ssekasamba and Mukiibi from selling this land until the main suit is finished in high court.
Police has deployed over 30 personnel’s at the ground to make sure the court order is obeyed.
Recently High court issued a temporary Injection against Mukiibi and his agents to sell the land, but the RDC has failed to obey the court order.
Tom Keeya and others who own bibanja in kira went to court challenging Mukiibi who claims to be the owner of the land. Petitioners claim that Mukiibi was just a surveyor of their landlord, so he cannot claim the land that belongs to Kisosonkole family.
According lawyer Caleb Alaka who represents the Bibanja owners states that RDC Ssekasamba has used his security detail to kidnap Bernard Kanakulya who is still missing to date.
Kanakulya’s family filed a case of missing person and kidnap at Kira division, File number SD72/11/19/2019. When we contacted police spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan ASP Luke Oweyesigyire confirmed this matter.
However RDC Joseph Ssekasamba says he does not own any piece of land in Kira but he will not allow land grabbers in his area.
