Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has intensified its fight against crime in the city, conducting intelligence-led operations in several areas and arresting numerous suspects. During the operations, police also impounded motorcycles with tilted number plates, which are often used in criminal activities.

In Naggalama Town, police arrested four individuals for selling opium and marijuana. The suspects were charged with possession of narcotics and frequenting places where opium is smoked. Officers recovered opium, marijuana, and knives as evidence, highlighting the seriousness of the offenses.

At Katwe Police Division, operations targeted crime hotspots, resulting in the seizure of seven motorcycles and the arrest of 25 suspects. These arrests were part of efforts to reduce street crimes, including robberies, phone snatching, and other offenses that have affected residents in the area.

In Nalya, a man identified as Kasita Matiya was arrested for involvement in robberies and snatching incidents. Police recovered a panga, knives, and opium from him. Victims identified Matiya, and he was detained at Kira Police Division for further investigations.

Operations in Kira Municipality covered Nsasa, Bulindo, Katuli, Kigambo, and Namugongo, where 18 suspects were arrested for possession of narcotic substances. Police confiscated opium and marijuana, further disrupting criminal networks in these neighborhoods.

According to SSP P Onyango, KMP spokesperson, the operations are part of a larger strategy to curb criminal activities, including shop breakings, burglaries, robberies, and phone snatching. The intelligence-led approach is designed to target repeat offenders and high-risk areas, ensuring that the city becomes safer for residents.

KMP continues to call on residents to cooperate with police and report suspicious activities, promising that sustained operations will make Kampala a safer city for everyone.
