A chilling murder case has shaken Mukono District after police arrested four people in connection with the death of Buchunju Eric, a 40-year-old clearing agent at Busia Customs. Eric’s body was found in Namataba village on the morning of August 14, 2025, around 6:00 a.m., sparking a full-scale investigation.
The discovery was disturbing the deceased was unknown to locals, and police were initially unable to identify him. It was only after a woman named Nanyonjo Matilda stepped forward, claiming to be his wife, that his identity was confirmed. Her statement gave investigators a starting point in unraveling what appeared to be a well-hidden crime.
Four suspects, Namuyanja Shadia, Namatovu Grace, Ssentume Abdu, and Mbuga Gerald have since been arrested. Police say they are piecing together how and why Eric met his death. At the crime scene, officers collected key evidence, including blood swabs, a wet towel believed to have been used to clean up blood, and two stones suspected to have been used in the attack. The body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The investigation took another twist when police tracked down Eric’s car, a white Toyota Mark X (registration number UBK 204X). The vehicle was found parked at Lake Petrol Station in Namataba, raising more questions about who drove it there and why it was abandoned.
Police have promised to dig deeper into the case, vowing to uncover the events that led to Eric’s brutal killing. For now, the people of Mukono are left anxious and watchful, as this once-quiet community becomes the center of a murder mystery that is far from solved.
