In a significant ceremony held in Mbale today, His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni presided over the swearing-in of several of Uganda’s top legal and anti-corruption officials. The highlight of the event was the appointment of Hon. Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala as the new Inspector General of Government (IGG), taking over from Hon. Beti Kamya Turwomwe. Justice Naluzze, who has a distinguished record in the judiciary, will now lead the government’s anti-corruption body with a mandate to ensure transparency and accountability across public institutions.
Joining Justice Naluzze were the Deputy Inspectors General of Government, Dr. Okiria and Anne Twino, who were both reappointed to continue serving in their important roles. Their continued presence is expected to provide stability and support to the IGG’s office as it undertakes its anti-corruption agenda.
The ceremony also witnessed the swearing-in of other key legal officers. Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo took the oath as the new Principal Judge, while Mr. Lino Anguzu was sworn in as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). These appointments mark a critical moment in Uganda’s judiciary and legal system, bringing in experienced leaders to guide the institutions responsible for upholding law, order, and justice across the country.
President Museveni, speaking at the ceremony, emphasized the importance of integrity, diligence, and fairness in the execution of their duties, highlighting that these appointments are vital for strengthening governance and public trust in Uganda’s legal and anti-corruption institutions.
