Just In!! Three Arrested in Wakiso for Violent Land Grab and Property Destruction, Charged & Remanded

Must read

Three people have been charged in Wakiso for illegally evicting occupants and destroying property. The Wakiso Chief Magistrate’s Court accused Ssejjombwe Ibrahim, Kyeyune Allan, and Musoke Joseph of forcibly entering land, damaging property, evicting rightful occupants without a court order, destroying crops, and committing theft.

They have been remanded in custody until November 19, 2025.According to court reports, between January and October 2025, the suspects, claiming to be landowners, gathered a group of people armed with pangas and sticks and violently took over land in Block 314, Plot 846, Busiro, Bukasa, belonging to Dr. Paul Biriibwa and Peter Biriibwa. During the attack, they destroyed residential houses for workers, animal shelters for cows, goats, and pigs, a wall fence, water tanks, trees, coffee and banana plantations, cameras, solar systems, and even a 40ft container.

Investigations revealed that the accused had no legal documents or proof to support any claim over the land. They had never occupied or possessed it, while the rightful owners have lived on the land for over 20 years with a valid title dating back to 2001. The destruction and eviction were carried out without any court permission, making the acts illegal and punishable under Ugandan law.

This case has highlighted the growing issue of illegal land grabbing in Uganda and the risks faced by lawful landowners. Authorities are now calling for strict enforcement of land laws to prevent similar violent incidents in the future.
