JUST IN!! Uganda Police Cracks Down on Criminals in Kampala CBD

Must read

The Uganda Police Force launched the second phase of their intelligence-led operation, called “Fukuza Kawenja,” on September 3, 2025, at around 11 pm in several crime-prone areas of Kampala’s Central Business District (CBD). The operation specifically targeted young people who commit crimes against innocent citizens. During the crackdown, police rounded up a total of 110 suspects, who were charged and detained at the Central Police Station in Kampala, awaiting court appearances. The authorities emphasized that intelligence-led operations will continue to ensure that criminal elements are removed from the CBD.

On the same day, the Kawempe Police Division carried out a similar intelligence-led operation in Mpererwe, Kanyanya, Ttula, and Kidokolo between 4 pm and 7 pm. The operation was aimed at addressing complaints about bag snatchers, phone thieves, and other robbers in these areas. During the operation, police arrested 32 suspects, who were detained at Kawempe Police Station pending screening. Law enforcement officers also recovered marijuana and other narcotics from the suspects.

Police officials described both operations as successful and reassured the public that such measures would continue. By using intelligence-led strategies, the Uganda Police Force hopes to reduce crime, protect residents, and create a safer environment in both Kampala’s CBD and surrounding areas.
