Justice Karemani, Defense’s PS Rosette Byengoma Installed As Lay Canons In North West Diocese

Must read

It was a joyful and memorable day at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Ibanda as the Kiboga High Court Circuit Resident Judge, Justice Jamson Karemani, was formally installed as a Lay Canon of the Diocese of North West Ankole. He was installed alongside Byengoma Rosette, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs. The special service was led by the Bishop of the Diocese, Amos Magezi.

The cathedral was filled with excitement as clergy, judicial officers, government officials, lay leaders, family members, and many Christians from across the Diocese gathered to witness this important moment. It was not just a church event, but a celebration of faith, leadership, and service to the community. The atmosphere was warm and full of thanksgiving.

Justice Karemani and Ms. Rosette had earlier been named Lay Canon Designates during the First Meeting of the Third Synod of the Diocese. Bishop Magezi recognized them for their strong Christian witness and their dedicated service both in the Church and in public life. Their installation marked the official beginning of their new role within the Cathedral and the Diocese.

In his message during the service, Bishop Magezi praised the two leaders for their integrity, humility, and commitment to serving others. He reminded them that the office of Lay Canon is not just a title of honor, but a call to continue serving faithfully. He emphasized that the role requires humility, responsibility, and a heart willing to support the mission of the Church.

Before the installation, the two attended a one-day spiritual retreat at Golden View Hotel in Ibanda. The retreat helped prepare them for their responsibilities as Lay Canons. It focused on prayer, reflection, and learning about their duties within the Cathedral and the wider Diocese.

The office of Lay Canon in the Anglican Church is given to respected lay Christians who have shown faithful service. Though it is an honorary position, it carries important responsibilities. Lay Canons are expected to support the ministry and mission of the Church and to be examples of strong Christian leadership in society.

The installation of Justice Karemani and Ms. Rosette was a powerful reminder that faith and public service can go hand in hand. Their new role reflects a life of dedication not only to their professions, but also to God and the Church. It was truly a day of honor, celebration, and renewed commitment to serve both Church and nation.
