The Kampala Metropolitan Police has intensified operations to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore public order across the region. The operations targeted areas known for unlawful activities, including narcotic substance abuse, robberies, and public nuisance. Police say these efforts aim to ensure the safety and security of residents in Kampala and surrounding districts.
In Mukono District, the Police conducted coordinated operations across several hotspots, including Goma, Nama, Central, Nakisunga, Namataba, Namawojjolo, Walusubi, and Namanve Industrial Park. These raids led to the arrest of 61 suspects, all taken from known black spots where criminals gather. Several exhibits of suspected narcotics were recovered, and the suspects were arraigned in court last week.
Kira Division Police also conducted operations in Kiyinda Zone, Kira Municipality, arresting three suspects from a house where narcotic substances were being sold and consumed. Eleven bundles of suspected narcotics were recovered, and the suspects are currently detained pending prosecution.
In Wakiso District, under the Nansana Division, a police operation at Wamala Police Post resulted in eight arrests from Wamala Kasumba, Karanzi, Kinyarwanda, and Tabba sub-zones. The suspects were found in possession of suspected narcotic substances and have been arraigned in court.
The Jinja Road Police Division conducted operations in Thailand, Katogo, and Kago areas of Kinawataka. Sixteen suspects involved in criminal activities were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of suspected narcotics and public nuisance offenses.
Old Kampala Division carried out two operations in Nakulabye and Kisenyi, arresting 48 suspects—24 in each area. The police recovered several exhibits, including suspected narcotics and dangerous weapons. All suspects were arraigned in courts of law.
In total, 136 suspects were arrested across various divisions within the Kampala Metropolitan Area during the week. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts to rid the city of criminal activity and improve public safety.
Alongside the enforcement operations, the Police have been engaging communities to strengthen collaboration. On 30th October 2025, Nansana Police Division hosted a major community engagement meeting chaired by CP Ecega Richard, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander. Local leaders, RDC representatives, and security stakeholders attended to discuss vigilance, family conflicts, and identification of criminal dark spots.
Similarly, on 29th October 2025, a community policing drive was held in Bulabira–Kalitunsi, Najjera. Residents were sensitized on neighbourhood watch, domestic violence prevention, and timely reporting to the Police to ensure collective safety.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police leadership commended the public, local leaders, and sister security agencies for their cooperation. They reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace and security through proactive enforcement and strong partnerships with the community.
