Must read

Residents of Wakaliga Zone B in Rubaga Division, Kampala District, were left shocked after a violent incident during the night of March 12, 2026, ended in the death of a man. Police from Natete are currently holding a woman suspected to be behind the fatal stabbing that occurred inside her rented room.

The deceased has been identified as Ssebugwawo Mike, a 43-year-old mechanic who lived in Wakaliga Zone in Rubaga Division. According to police reports, Mike lost his life after being stabbed during a violent confrontation that happened in the early hours of the morning.

The suspect in the case has been identified as Nantongo Hadijjah, a 32-year-old woman who lives in Wakaliga Zone B. Police say the incident allegedly happened at around 2:00 a.m. inside her single rented room where a fight reportedly broke out between her and the deceased.

Preliminary police findings suggest that Nantongo and Mike had previously been in a romantic relationship but had separated about two months ago. However, events on the night of the incident appear to have brought the two into a deadly confrontation.

Investigators say that at around 1:00 a.m., Mike reportedly went to Nantongo’s residence after trying several times to call her phone without success. When he arrived at the house, he allegedly found the door locked and reportedly suspected that another man was inside the room with her.

Police say the situation quickly escalated when the deceased allegedly forced his way into the room. This reportedly triggered a heated fight inside the small rented space, creating a chaotic and dangerous situation.

During the struggle, Nantongo allegedly picked up a sharp broken clay plate and stabbed Mike in the chest. The injury proved fatal, and the man died from the wounds sustained during the fight.

Police officers later arrested the suspect, who is now being held at Natete Police Station as investigations continue. Authorities have strongly condemned acts of violence in domestic relationships and are urging people experiencing conflicts or abuse to seek help and report such matters to the police before situations turn tragic.
