President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who also doubles as the Commander in Chief of armed forces has reached a final decision to redeploy his former blue eyed Generals, Gen.David Tinyefuza aka Sejusa the former Coordinator of intelligence services and Former Inspector General of Police Gen. Edward Kale Kayihura.
Last night, our intelligent sources revealed that the President made a final decision during a recently high Command meeting that was held at State House Entebbe.
The high Command meeting which was abruptly called was attended by President Museveni who chaired it, Security Minister Gen Ely Tumwine, Presidential Advisor on Security matters Gen Salim Saleh, Gen David Muhoozi the Chief of Defence Forces, Internal Affairs Minister Gen Jeje Odongo, Justice Minister RTD Maj.Gen Kahinda Otafire, Army representative in Parliament Gen.Ivan Koreta among others.
Security sources add that during the meeting, some Generals first disagreed on deploying Gen Kayihura claiming he is still battling with Court martial cases and incase he is redeployed, he can use his office to interfere with investigations. “Gen. Kayihura has the capacity to threaten all investigators once he is re-deployed because investigators are all lower in ranks than him,” a source quoted one of the UPDF Generals saying.
Intelligence sources further told us that most Generals passed a resolution to have Gen Sejusa redeployed under Defence Ministry but not directly in UPDF. “Gen Sejusa can work under defense ministry but not in UPDF because he will always undermine his junior bosses.”
At the end of meeting, President Museveni accepted to have his two Generals back in service and said Gen.Kayihura will be deployed in UPDF under Wealth Creation and will directly be supervised by Gen Saleh. Military sources added that Kayihura may replace Lt Gen Charles Angina who will be made UPDF attaché in yet to be known Country.
President Museveni later instructed CDF Gen.David Muhoozi to inform the retirement committee of UPDF to delete Gen.Sejusa’s name from the list of top UPDF officers that are set to retire from the army.
Recently UPDF confirmed that Gen.Sejusa will not be among the UPDF Generals that will retire from active military service.
Gen Sejusa fell out with President Museveni in 2013 when he claimed that President Museveni was grooming his son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba to be the next President. Sejusa further alleged that anyone who will oppose Muhoozi project will risk to be killed.
Sejusa later fled into Exile where he spent close to two years. During exile, he made several statements with BBC Radio. Government later facilitated his return in 2015.
Before 2016 Presidential elections, Gen Sejusa was picked from his home in Nagura and detained at Makindye military barracks.
He later appeared before Court Martial and was sentenced to Luzira Prison on several charges.
Sejusa through his lawyers, petioned to high court claiming that he was constructively discharged from the army because he had spent some time with earning UPDF Salary.
High Court judge later ruled in favour of Sejusa and even awarded him damages worth shs 500m.
