A shocking and terrifying incident of aggravated robbery and kidnapping occurred in Buikwe District on the night of November 27, 2025, leaving the local community in deep distress. Dr. Ndiwalana Mbuga Moses, a 37-year-old medical professional, was returning home to his family in Naminya village, located in Njeru Municipality, after a day of work. What should have been a peaceful arrival turned into a horrifying ordeal.
At around 11:30 PM, as Dr. Mbuga parked his vehicle outside his home, he was ambushed by a group of masked gunmen. Without warning, the attackers held him at gunpoint and ordered him, along with his wife, maid, and the family’s watchman, Byaruhanga Micheal, to lie on the ground. The criminals then forced the family into their house and began to ransack the property.
During the robbery, the gunmen made off with a significant amount of money—1,650,000 shillings (about 1.65 million Ugandan shillings)—before taking their cruelty a step further. In a horrifying turn of events, the assailants kidnapped Dr. Mbuga’s six-year-old daughter, Nankya Kaira Mbuga, before fleeing the scene.
The attack has left the family shaken and the local community reeling in fear. Naminya village, typically a quiet and peaceful area, is now grappling with the reality of violent crime. The emotional toll on the family, especially the parents of the kidnapped child, is unimaginable.
The police have quickly launched an investigation into the crime. Authorities, led by SP Butoto Hellen, the Public Relations Officer for the Ssezibwa region, have assured the public that efforts are underway to track down the assailants and recover the missing child. “We are doing everything possible to locate the missing child and bring those responsible to justice,” said SP Butoto Hellen in a statement. The police have asked for any information that may assist in the investigation, urging residents to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious.
The family’s ordeal is a stark reminder of the growing threat posed by violent criminals in the region, and it has left many people in the area concerned about their own safety. The search for young Nankya continues, with law enforcement working tirelessly to bring her back home and apprehend those behind the attack.
As the investigation unfolds, the community remains hopeful that justice will be served, and that little Nankya will be safely reunited with her family. In the meantime, the residents of Naminya and surrounding areas are holding their breath, hoping for a positive outcome in what has been a terrifying and traumatic event for all involved.
