Police in Arua City has arrested Candia Peter Aged 49 years, a peasant farmer and resident of Nyio cells, Nyio ward, Ayivu East Division in Arua City over murder by stabbing of a medical nurse identified as Driciru Laura aged 62 yeas,a lugbara by tribe, a resident of Nyio cells, Nyio ward Ayivu East Division.
It’s alleged that, on the night of 21/03/2025,at about 0200am,the a neighbour to the Deceased was woken up by a knock at his door by a girl called kalungi Michel
Aged 9year who stays with the Deceased(two in the house),informing him that her grandmother had been killed in the house by one she calls uncle John Michael.
She added that, uncle John travelled from Soroti yesterday 20th-03-2025 and arrived home at 4pm.
That the two had a nice chart with her grandmother whom he calls his wife until 9pm when she slept(in the next room).
That at unknown time after midnight,she was woken up by noise,her grandmother crying that shes being killed.
That when she rushed inside to check(sleeping room),the Deceased was lying dead with blood oozing out of her.she then rushed to call him(The Reporter)who immediately got Apanga and came to call other colleagues at neighbourhood, rushed to the Scene 4 in number,and on entering, indeed Driciru was lying dead in pool of blood and uncle John was inside fugiting to put on and run out.
Uncle John while trembling,he admitted that he killed his wife Driciru because she aborted his pregnancy 3yeas ago.
They immediately tied him with ropes and took him to muni University police station where Candia Reported murder.
A case of murder was registered vide muni Sd o2/21/03/2025,now CRB 061/2025 Ayivu East police Division.
Crime scene was examined and documented and material evidence such as a knife,bedsheets all with blood stains and blood samples at the scene were recovered for forensic analysis.
The body was retrieved and conveyed to Arua referral mortuary for postmortem.
