Naggalama Police Division has arrested Onyango Henry, a 25-year-old resident of Magonga Village in Kiwafu Parish, Kimenyedde Sub-county, Mukono District. He is accused of murdering 90-year-old Negesa Christine, also from Magonga Village.
The tragic incident took place on September 20, 2025, at around 9:00 am. Onyango was reportedly seen leaving the house of the deceased, prompting immediate concern from neighbors and relatives.
When relatives arrived to investigate, they found Negesa Christine lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. The scene shocked the entire village and prompted a swift response from local authorities.
Police quickly arrived at the scene, took statements from witnesses and first responders, and began a full investigation. Onyango was taken back to the crime scene for a reconstruction of the events leading to the murder.
During the reconstruction, investigators recovered the suspected murder weapon, a panga, and Onyango’s shoe, which he reportedly lost while fleeing the scene. These items are key pieces of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Negesa Christine’s body was transported to Kayunga Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to confirm the cause of death and gather further forensic evidence.
In a shocking revelation, Onyango led police to a well where he claimed to have washed the panga after committing the crime. This discovery may help authorities establish how the crime was carried out.
Investigators are now working to determine the motive behind the murder. They are also probing whether Onyango acted alone or had accomplices who may have helped him before or after the attack.
The community remains in shock as news of the killing spreads. Residents described Negesa Christine as a kind and respected elder, and the brutal nature of the crime has left many deeply disturbed.
Police have promised to continue thorough investigations and ensure that justice is served. “We are following all leads to uncover the motive and identify anyone else involved,” said P Onyango, SSP and PRO for KMP, on September 22, 2025.
