Must read

The Uganda Police Force has made significant strides in tackling the recent surge of robberies in Mukono District. In a carefully planned, intelligence-led operation, officers from Mukono Central Police Station used CCTV camera footage to track down and arrest four suspects linked to the robberies. The suspects include Batambuze David, 32, a driver at Bunamwaya taxi stage; Mulira Ronald, 30, a resident of Natete; Serukenya Abdul, 40, from Nyejje-Goma in Mukono District; and Ssemanda Shafiq, 28, from Kibiri-Busabala. Additionally, Ainambabazi Tasha, 20, a bar attendant at Namasuba, was also taken into custody.

The suspects were apprehended while traveling in a Toyota Hiace with registration number UBJ 343H, which police impounded as part of the investigation. During the operation, seven mobile phones were recovered and documented as evidence, linking the suspects to the crimes.

Despite the arrests, four other suspects, including Tifu, the driver, Caros, Ashiraf, and Ibra, managed to escape. Police continue their investigations to locate these individuals and any others connected to the robberies.

This operation is part of a broader effort by the Uganda Police Force to reduce crime in the region and reassure residents of their safety. Police officials emphasize that intelligence-led strategies and collaboration with local communities are key to curbing criminal activities and maintaining law and order.

SSP P. Onyango, the Police spokesperson for KMP, confirmed that investigations are ongoing and urged anyone with information about the remaining suspects to come forward.
