New CID Data Center Complex to Begin Operations in June Next Year

Must read

The new high-tech CID Data Center complex that was launched last year will start operating next year in June. This information was revealed by the CID Director, Tom Magambo Rwabudongo. The director adds that the new modern building complex is aimed at boosting criminal investigations countrywide. The seven-floor facility will be equipped with cutting-edge technology designed to improve case management, streamline investigations, and strengthen law enforcement across Uganda.

The building will be constructed by the Police Construction Unit, led by Engineer ASP David Mutimba. He revealed that it will serve as a Data Analysis Center, where all case-related information will be organized, stored, and analyzed using modern technology. Construction is scheduled to begin soon, and the project is expected to take a full year, with operations set to start in June next year.

Mutimba explained that the facility will feature advanced data rooms, analysis and storage centers, situation analysis rooms, boardrooms, modern offices, and high-tech cameras. Once completed, it will be unlike anything Uganda has ever seen in criminal investigations. About 120 skilled police officers will be stationed there, working day and night to ensure operations are efficient, secure, and well-monitored.

Director Magambo welcomed the project, saying he expects it to greatly improve investigations and bring new levels of efficiency to police work. Since taking charge three years ago, Magambo has focused on creating better working conditions for officers and ensuring that citizens can seek justice without corruption or delays. He noted that the new building will allow him to supervise cases across the country in real-time.

“At the moment, I can only rely on reports from my officers, which is good but not the best,” Magambo explained. “When the Data Analysis Complex is completed with all the modern technology inside, I will be able to sit in my office and monitor every case from across the country.”

The directorate has already handled more than 280 case files in court, including cases involving senior government officials. Magambo emphasized that the new systems will make it much harder for suspects to manipulate the process or escape justice, as every step will be tracked and recorded digitally. He said the government’s funding of this project will make Uganda’s CID facility one of the most modern in East Africa.

Rwabudongo also encouraged Ugandans to report crimes without fear, promising that with the new systems, cases will be handled faster and more transparently. “We want citizens to trust the police and work with us to ensure justice prevails,” he said.

When completed, the new CID building will not only stand as a symbol of modernization but also mark the beginning of a new era in Uganda’s fight against crime. With digitalized case management, advanced monitoring, and international-standard technology, the Uganda Police hopes to bring efficiency, accountability, and confidence back into criminal investigations.
